Garth Brooks' Pop LP Delayed

The release date of country superstar Garth Brooks' first pop-rock

album, In the Life of Chris Gaines, has been pushed back from

May 4 to an as-yet-undetermined date in the summer, according to Brooks

spokeswoman Nancy Henderson, who didn't give a reason for the delay.

Henderson said that the album is considered to be a sort of "prequel"

to the upcoming movie "The Lamb," in which Brooks is slated to play a

rock star named Chris Gaines; the album's songs are intended to be the

fictional star's greatest hits. Although the album has been described as

Brooks' first non-country record, some tracks are said to be in a

country-rock vein. "The Lamb" is currently in pre-production, according

to Henderson.
