Coroner Refuses To Exhume Wynette's Body

Tennessee's chief coroner announced Wednesday he will not order the exhumation of country singer Tammy Wynette's body, as three of the singer's daughters had requested. Sherry Lewis, a representative for Chief Medical Examiner Bruce Levy, said the doctor decided, after reviewing Wynette's medical history and speaking with her physician, that the singer died of complications from a blood clot in April, as originally reported. Wynette's daughters wrote to Levy last week asking him to perform an autopsy.
