Olivia Tremor Control Ready To Hit The Road

Eclectic pop quartet will support Black Foliage with 16 dates starting March 24.

Eclectic pop act Olivia Tremor Control have announced a string of spring dates in
support of their recent release, Black Foliage: Animation Music by the Olivia Tremor
Control.

Getting underway March 24 at Lamar’s in Chattanooga, Tenn., the junket will take the
Athens, Ga., foursome on a 16-date swing through the South, the Midwest, Canada and
the Northeast before drawing to a close April 10 in Columbia, Va.

Multi-instrumentalist William Cullen Hart explained the concept behind the “animation”
music of the group’s second LP.

“The animation to me is all the stuff floating around and interrupting,” Hart said. “Almost
during every song you hear some little thing creak or groan or zip by. To me that’s what it
is, a sort of a sound and space personified, just flying around to greet you in a friendly
way.”

Snips, clips and loops dominate the album’s more experimental tracks such as href="http://media.addict.com/atn-bin/get-

It”
(RealAudio excerpt), while a healthy pop sensibility is infused into such
readily accessible tunes as “A Sleepy
Company”
(RealAudio excerpt).

Known for blending unusual field recordings with accessible pop tunes, Olivia Tremor
Control sprung from the Elephant 6 recording collective that includes the pop-rock acts
Apples In Stereo and Neutral Milk Hotel.
