Melvins Cover Others On Next LP

Sludge-core trio the Melvins will release an as-yet-untitled album of covers and radically revamped versions of their own tunes July 23 on Man's Ruin Records. Covers include Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive," the Wipers' "Youth of America" and Throbbing Gristle's "Song Number 5," while the Melvins will update their own "Tipping the Lion" and "Gluey Porch Treatments." Drummer Dale Crover described the Wipers cover as "a nine-minute psychedelic jam. We've been fans of the Wipers for a long time. It's a pretty good version. It was a tough song to cover because the original is so good already."
