Filter Leader Touts New Album

Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Filter, Van Halen, Iggy Pop, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Silverchair, Ramones...

Filter mastermind Richard Patrick discussed the industrial-pop band's

eagerly awaited sophomore album during a Dec. 18 chat at the Filter Online website.

The album, a follow-up to 1995's Short Bus, is tentatively titled Abyssinian

Son and is slated for an April release, according to singer/songwriter/instrumentalist

Patrick. With the departure of former member Brian Liesegang, Chicago

musician Steven Gillis is contributing to the new album, as is a singer referred to

only as Miss Blue. Patrick described the sound of the album and its potential first

single, "Welcome To The Fold," as "meat and potatoes Filter, lots of guitars, lots of

emotion ... and of course, our big fat computer."
