Modern-metal act Metallica filed a lawsuit Monday against online-retailer Amazon.com in the United States District Court Central District of California, claiming copyright infringement. The dispute stems from the album Bay Area Thrashers, The Early Days, a live recording that the band claims is unauthorized. Metallica are seeking to stop the sale of the disc by Amazon.com and a minimum of $100,000 in statutory damages. The lawsuit comes in the wake of a similar one filed Nov. 12 against another online retailer, N2K, distributor Dutch East India Trading and the English label Outlaw Records over the same album.
