The Counting Crows are putting together their own mini-summer
festival along with their pals in The Wallflowers. Scheduled to hit more than
35 cities across the U.S. from July to September, the tour, which finds both
groups graduating to outdoor sheds with capacities ranging from 15-25,000, will
also feature a rotating line-up of up-and-coming opening bands, including
Bettie Serveert, Engine 88, the Gigolo Aunts and That Dog, each of whom will
open the shows for three weeks at a time.
The pairing of the two modern
classic rock bands is more than just marketing savvy, however. Crows singer
Adam Duritz laid down some backing vocals on the Wallflowers' breakthrough hit,
"6th Avenue Heartache," and both bands recently passed the double-platinum mark
for their latest efforts.
