You Say It's Your Birthday: Porno for Pyros' Martyn Le Noble

It's also the birthday of the Screaming Trees' drummer Barrett Martin.

Today is the birthday of Porno for Pyros' Martyn Le Noble,

former bassist for the quartet formed by former Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry

Farrell and percussionist Stephen Perkins after the group parted ways 1991.

Comprised of Farrell, Le Noble, Perkins and guitarist Peter DiStefano, the

Porno for Pyros debuted with their self-titled record in 1992, releasing one

single and video for the song "Pets," a commentary on humans' inevitable fall

from the top of the food chain. The group toured with Farrell's pet project,

Lollapalooza, and performed at the 1994 Woodstock festival.

In 1994 the

Pyros went underground to record their sophomore record, working in Zuma Beach,

California and drawing inspiration from frequent surfing trips to Bali and

Tahiti. The result was last year's Good God's Urge, peppered with guest

appearances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and Dave Navarro, the members

of Love & Rockets, and Mike Watt, who replaced Le Noble halfway through the

recording process. Meanwhile, although Farrell abandoned Lollapalooza for a

couple of years, he's returned to help plan this year's festivities. Porno For

Pyros will be appearing at this summer's Tibetan Freedom Concert.
