With the full line-up scheduled to be announced any day, ATN has learned that

the second Tibetan Freedom Concert will be held on New York's Randall's Island

on June 7 & 8.

A source revealed that the venue, which has hosted everyone

from Lollapalooza to Pearl Jam in the past year, was chosen over Giant's

Stadium because it allows for a general admission policy that wasn't available

at the larger venue.

The island, located between Queens and Manhattan,

houses an amphitheater and large park. Attendance will be down a bit from the

100,000-plus who attended last year's inaugural two-day event in San

Francisco's Golden Gate Park, since capacity on the island is limited to about

28,000 per day.

Confirmed acts include the Beastie Boys (who's Adam Yauch

is one of the organizers of the event) and Rancid, with likely sets from A

Tribe Called Quest, who also played last year's event.

ATN has also

learned that R.E.M. will not be playing, but that, according to our source,

"there may be some acoustic numbers from one of their members," most likely

singer Michael Stipe.
