Snoop Doggy Dogg has postponed his 38-show tour following
the drive-by murder of Notorious B.I.G. this past Sunday, according to
U.S.A. Today. The tour, was to have begun on Friday, March 21 in
Winston-Salem, N.C., also features Dr. Dre, Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim and Dru Hill.
It is now tentatively set to start in Winston-Salem on April 12.
is due to Snoop's concern over his own safety, and out of respect for the
Notorious B.I.G., said Jeff Bowen, booking and marketing director at
Winston-Salem's Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
"I'm sure he's
nervous," Bowen told U.S.A. Today. "He's indicated to me and the rest of
us working on this tour that he wants to perform. He's not reluctant but he's
not crazy either. He'll take measures to protect himself."
Bowen said that
more rappers may be added to emphasize east/west harmony. "Snoop says he wants
to take another look at the tour and possibly configure it into a unity tour
that would call for the end of this violence and insanity," Bowen told
U.S.A. Today. "He feels he's next in line and if he doesn't do
something, who will?"
