Offspring Return To Top 10

The Offspring, featured in the current issue of Addicted To Noise, are back.

The Offspring sprung back into familiar territory this week, Billboard's

Top 10. The Southern California band's major-label debut after a very public

break with former label Epitaph Records, Ixnay on the Hombre, debuted in

ninth place with sales of 78,000 copies. Another strong debut came from

Silverchair, whose sophomore effort, Freak Show, landed at #12 on sales

of 72,000.

But it was our old friends in No Doubt who made the big news

this week. After only one week out of their now-comfortable perch atop the

charts, the California pop-ska band, who had made an eight-week run at #1,

re-gained the top spot with sales of 119,000. After only one week in the lead,

the soundtrack to Gridlock'd was smacked back down into second on sales

of 94,000.

And, as if further proof of the popacalypse was needed,

England's Spice Girls knocked Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart" off the top of

the Billboard singles chart after an 11-week reign with their perky hit

"Wannabe." Oh yeah, and their debut album, Spice, entered the album

charts at #6 on sales of 82,000.
