Throwing Muses' 10 Year Live Retrospective

Cover art from Freeloader EP.

The Throwing Muses, who, like wine, seem to be mellowing and getting smoother

with age, are about to embark on a mini-tour of the East Coast to showcase

their just-released (Jan. 21) EP, Freeloader, the follow-up to last

year's album, Limbo. The EP features the title song alongside a few

bonus tracks, including a cover of the Latin Playboys "If," a live remix of

"Take" and a lullaby called "Heel Toe."

As a bonus for hard-core fans, the

band has also slapped together something called Throwing Muses' Live to Tape

EP, a six-track bonus pack of live in-studio performances of favorites like

"Shark," "Ruthie's Knocking," "Night Driving," "Serene," "Bright Yellow Gun"

and "Bea" that will be available for a limited time for the low-low price of

$4.98 (plus $1.50 s&h) at the Rykodisc website (www.rkyodisc.com or

www.throwingmusic.com).

These tracks were originally offered as a

promotional item to British DJ's, and later, American college jocks and will

only be offered until the limited run sells out, which, according to a Ryko

staffer, "is about to happen, if it hasn't already."
