Shoeapalooza Hits The Slopes With Pharcyde, Voodoo Glow Skulls & More

Voodoo Glow Skulls will punk you.

Not wanting to be left out of the lucrative rock-sneaker

market, those sharpies at Airwalk have taken a lesson from their peers at Vans

(who sponsor the Warped tour) and come back hard with the second year of their

wintertime traveling footwear rock festival.

Called the "Airwalk Sno-Core

Tour," this traveling shoeapalooza will feature Face To Face, the Pharcyde and

the Voodoo Glow Skulls (last year's event was headlined by Sublime and

Guttermouth) playing shows by night, while pro-'boarders give on-mountain

exhibitions by day. Touting itself as the first major tour package with a

"snowboarding lifestyle focus" (whatever that means), the 22-date swing will

kick-off in Providence, R.I. on Feb. 14 and wend its way through the upper East

coast and through the snow belt for a month of boarding, bodacious air and, it

seems safe to assume, plenty of bong hits.

A short film about the life and times of Sublime (shown at the Enough

Already benefit last week), will be screened before the gigs and the

whole thing will really snowball when it meets up with the BoardAID 4, a

two-day boarding and bands event benefiting the AIDS charity LIFEbeat,

on March 14-15 at the Bear Mountain Ski Resort in Big Bear Lake,

California.

Most of the Sno-Core

gigs will take place either at the resort hosting the day-long activities, or

within a two-hour drive at a venue with a "thematic mountainesque stage

setting." Tickets are $15 and some dates will feature additional bands like

Less Than Jake, Powerman 5000 (also known around here as "Korn2, The Sequel")

and the Bloodhound Gang, a band so dumb even bong hits don't make them funnier.
