OK, so we're told we made a big mistake when we said, in a
news piece about the upcoming Rage Against The Machine album, that the group"
uses sampling and audio collage techniques to fashion a hard, heavy wall of
noise." According to the record company they record for, there are no samples
on either the new album, Evil Empire or the group's debut. Or course we
could debate what "sampling" means in this day and age. We might argue that
using a 24 track tape recorder to make an album, is, in fact, "sampling" the
artist's performance. But the point here is that the group creates their own
music and doesn't lift any bits and pieces from other albums. And we can
appreciate that. In any case, the album rocks. We like it.
