Ian Astbury Debuts New Combo

That loon who is upside down in the picture of the last version of The Cult, is actually Ian Astbury.

Ian Astbury, the former leader of the Cult debuted his new

band Holy Barbarians last weekend in Los Angeles at Bar Deluxe. They were due

to play at Dragonfly week before last with local rockers, Farmer, but for some

unexplained reason they canceled. The Holy Barbarians, who should not be

confused with Keith Richard's solo efforts as the New Barbarians, take their

name from a Lawrence Lipton book about beatniks, but what's more important is

that they're releasing their first album on April 23.
