Say It's Your Birthday: Axl Rose

Just a kid from Indiana who made his way to Hollywood,

stars in his eyes and a sullen expression on his pretty face. He conquered

Tinsel Town and from there the world, until that fateful day when his Porche

suddenly...wait a minute, James Dean's birthday isn't until tomorrow.

Oh...Well, except for that bit about the Porche, we could be talking about

another kid from Indiana, born a day shy of 31 years after James Dean, or Feb.

7, 1962 . This kid also had a nice Indiana name, Bill Bailey. But the Hollywood

he arrived in was just a bit different from James Dean's, and W. Axl Rose had a

better ring on the Boulevard of the early '80s. The question of the moment is

just how such resonance the name Axl Rose still provides on the Boulevard in

the mid-'90s. The off-again-on-again Guns n' Roses have been vacillating for so

long now that it's almost reached the point where people will just stop asking.

We know Axl gets much of his career guidance these days from psychic hotlines,

so hopefully Latoya's trained professionals are telling him to get his ass back

in the studio pronto. Advice from the ATN Birthday Bureau psychic: Just don't

take the Porche. Other birthdays today are saxophone giant King Curtis, Alan

Lancaster of Status Quo, Brian Travers of UB40, Steve Bronski of Bronski Beat

and that product-shifter supreme Garth Brooks.
