The new Nick Cave album, titled Murder Ballads will
be released on February 20. The album, which was produced by Cave, Tony Cohen
and Victor Van Vugt, is sure to cause a sensation for the rather extreme sex
and violence described in some of the songs. One source told us that execs at
Reprise, the label releasing the album, were talking about putting a parental
advisory label on it. Oh well. Every song on the album is actually a murder
ballad. The first single is "Where The Wild Roses Grow," which is a duet with
Kylie Minogue that was a hit in Europe last year. The last track on the album
is called "Death Is Not The End" and it features vocals by Henry Rollins, Shane
MacGowan and P. J. Harvey, as well as Cave himself. Cave will be in the U. S.
to talk to the media, but there is no tour planned at present.
