ATN Australian correspondent Alex Jackson reports: With
the Summersault festival bands barely out of the country, music fans are
gearing up for Australia's original traveling alterna-fest, the Big Day Out.
The festival off in Auckland, New Zealand next Friday (Jan. 19) and starts its
Australian run on Jan. 21 on the Queensland Gold Coast. Although many fans were
disappointed at PJ Harvey's shock withdrawal from the bill due to exhaustion
late last month, there are still plenty of tempting acts on the bill including
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Rancid, Porno For Pyros, The Jesus Lizard, Rage
Against The Machine and Elastica, not to mention an array of Australian bands.
And, as ATN has previously reported, Mike Watt will be playing bass in Porno
For Pyros on their Big Day Out dates.
