Cake Like Signed To Neil Young's Label

Cake Like, the female trio who went from not knowing how to play any

instruments to indie darling superstatus in nine months, culminating with their

1993 debut, Delicious on John Zorn's Japanese Avant label, have been

signed to Vapor Records (the label owned by Neil Young and his manager, Elliot

Roberts).

The group, whose members include Nina Hellman (guitar/vocals),

Jody Seifert (drums) and Kerri Kenney (bass/vocals), the only woman in the

late-lamented comedy troupe, The State, have just finished recording their new

album, the first to be widely available in the U.S. The disc was produced by

Shudder To Think's Craig Wedren, who co-produced their first effort along with

Girls Against Boys' Eli Janney. The album is slated for a late spring

release.
