The final line-up has been announced for the Big Day
Out, a series of six all day Lollapalooza-like shows taking place this month in
Australia and New Zealand.
The international acts scheduled to appear
include: the Offspring, Soundgarden, Supergrass, the Prodigy, The Jon Spencer
Blues Explosion, Shonen Knife, Patti Smith and Aphex Twin. Brazilian rockers
Sepultura were forced to pull out due to singer-guitarist Max Cavalera's bum
knee. Most of the international acts will be appearing at all six shows with
the exception of Patti Smith, Jon Spencer and Aphex Twin; they'll only play
selected Australian venues.
The Big Day Out promises to present
approximately 45 acts at each show including such Australian bands as You Am I,
Powderfinger and The Beasts Of Bourbon; New Zealand acts will include Shihad,
Garageland, The 3Ds and Bailterspace.
This is the fifth and final year
promoters are bringing the Big Day Out down under; they say it's gotten too
