ATN Song of the Moment: Everclear's "Summerland"

We can't stop listening to this absolutely mesmerizing track off the

new Everclear album, Sparkle and Fade (a phrase that appears in

this song). Not since Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" in 1975 has a

band so perfectly captured the angst and frustration of being stuck in

a nowhere town, needing to escape. "Forget about our jobs at the

record store/ Forget about all the losers that we know/ Forget about

all the memories that keep you down/ Forget about them/ We could loose

them in the Sparkle and Fade." A drum beat, so cool guitar cord and

the classic opening line "Let's just drive your car..." sucks you into

the vortex. Yes!
