Stone Roses: Crush The Petals To The Floor

ATN London correspondent Stuart Green reports: The next stage on the

Stone Roses World Tour has been thrown into doubt

following the broken collarbone sustained by guitarist John Squire in

San

Francisco last Friday (June 2). Although Squire saw a doctor on

Tuesday who told him

that he could resume playing whenever he felt able, it is unlikely he

will

have the strength to carry the weight of a guitar for some weeks as he

has

broken the left collarbone and fractured his left shoulder blade. The

Japanese tour--ten dates beginning on June 6--has been postponed and

will

be rescheduled.

Upon returning to England from the Land Of The Rising Sun the band

were due

to headline the Glastonbury Festival. No decision has been made on

whether

the Roses will make it to the premier venue on the European festival

circuit. However the band are understood to be "determined" to play.

The

same confusion surrounds U. S. dates planned for July.

Squire rejoined the rest of the band in England today and will sit

down

with them over the next few days to work out exactly how they handle

this

latest setback. An official statement is expected on Friday.
