Summit Tackles Music Censorship

Ninety delegates representing musicians, the recording industry and anti-censorship activists from around the globe met in Copenhagen, Denmark, over the weekend for the first World Conference On Music and Censorship, according to Reuters. In a declaration issued from the summit, participants called on the United Nations to protect free speech. "We ask for your support to bring violations of [musicians'] fundamental rights of freedom of expression to the widest possible international attention and to dedicate yourself ... to the eradication of these forms of human rights abuse," Reuters quoted from the document.
