Los Angeles-based, eclectic-pop group the Eels have postponed the final four

dates of their U.S. tour due to a death in the family of singer/songwriter E (born

Mark Oliver Everett), according to a publicist at the band's Geffen label. The four

dates -- in Seattle, Portland, Ore., San Francisco and Los Angeles -- supporting their recent

release, Electro-Shock Blues, will be rescheduled. A planned U.K. tour also is "up

in the air," according to the publicist. In an interview earlier this year, E described

Electro-Shock Blues -- with its many references to death and family in its lyrics

and artwork -- as "an artist's feeble attempt at getting some control out of an

uncontrollable situation."
