Funk-hero Rick James, 50, suffered a stroke Monday that has left him
temporarily unable to walk, though doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los
Angeles are expected to operate Tuesday (Nov. 10). James, best known for the hit song
"Super Freak," popped a blood vessel in the back of his neck during a concert Friday at
Mile High Stadium in Denver. According to a statement from his publicist, James had
been examined by doctors in Denver over the weekend and was advised to return to Los
Angeles for further medical evaluation.
