McCartney, Springsteen, Joel Make Hall Of Fame Cut

Former Beatle Paul McCartney, rocker Bruce Springsteen and

piano-man Billy Joel are among the 1999 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees

announced Tuesday (Nov. 10). Also making the cut were singer/songwriter Dusty

Springfield, '50s rocker Del Shannon, soul-man Curtis Mayfield,

gospel group the Staples Singers and, in the "non-performer" category, former

Beatles producer George Martin. Country-swing pioneers Bob Wills and His

Texas Playboys and blues man Charles Brown also will be inducted in the

"Early Influence" category.
