Elvis Costello

"We took the cue from our first composition, which was called 'God Give Me Strength.' It

was written originally for [the 1996 film] 'Grace of My Heart.' We had a whole

dramatic-framework to work inside for that first song. They said they wanted this big,

emotional song about somebody that's had their heart broken and we were like, 'Well, I

think you came to the right guys.' That's the bit of [Burt Bacharach's] music that's really

got under my skin over the years. I think it's an area of writing I've returned to time and

time again and it never gets old." -- Elvis Costello, singer/songwriter
