Dump, the one-man side project of art-pop act Yo La Tengo
bassist James McNew, is set to release a pair of EPs in the coming
months on Shrimper Records: Women in Rock (December) and a
cassette-only release of the The Artist covers (due next year).
Among the covers that McNew has already recorded for the cassette are: "The
Beautiful Ones," "Erotic City," "When You Were Mine," "How Come You Don't
Call Me Anymore" and "Pop Life." Touring behind the Dump EPs looks
unlikely, though, as McNew is currently concentrating on work with Yo La
Tengo and jokingly says that he plans to "retire [Dump] from live
performance altogether and never appear in public again."
