Silver Jews Tour Postponed

Alt-country/indie-rockers Silver Jews have postponed their U.S. fall tour in support of their fourth album, American Water (Oct. 26), following news that singer and songwriter David Berman ruptured his eardrum during a street brawl in Spain. Berman -- who has no insurance and is hoping to avoid an operation to repair the sensitive tissue -- said he got into the scuffle after his face was spat upon by a local rowdy who, minutes earlier, had driven a motorcycle perilously close to Berman's companions. After Berman pulled a second biker off his motorcycle and into the street, he said, a fight ensued that ended with Berman receiving multiple kicks to the head and an early return to the States from the press trip to promote the upcoming album.
