Folkie Billy Bragg Rails Against GOP

During a recent in-store performance at Amoeba Records in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district, politically minded folk-rock singer/songwriter Billy Bragg sang an a cappella song, "Black Bear Went Up the Mountain," which places the GOP in the rather distasteful position of being expelled from the animal's rear. From the hearty applause that ensued, one could assume that there was not a Republican in the house. British-born Bragg also peppered his performance with running commentary on the current U.S. media obsession with the President Clinton sex scandal, noting, among other things, that "[While] 33 percent of your country is for impeachment, 66 percent is against. This completely undermines the notion of a 'moral majority' in America."
