Farrell Mixes It Up For First DJ Set

Perry Farrell, Ben Harper, Cracker, Counting Crows, PJ Harvey, John Fogerty ...

Former Jane's Addiction leader Perry Farrell performed his first-ever DJ set at the opening of the Italian fashion store Bottega Venata in New York on Thursday night for a crowd of 1,500, including sample-happy rapper Sean "Puffy" Combs and diva Grace Jones, as well as millionaire businessman Donald Trump, designer Stephen Sprouse and model Veronica Webb. During Farrell's two-hour set, he and keyboardist/sampler Karl Leiker -- his partner in the new musical project Gobalee -- played an eclectic mix of rock, electronic and dance tunes. In addition, blues-rocker Ben Harper took the stage alone and performed a 40-minute, unplugged, acoustic set at the event.
