Love's Secret VMA Message Decoded

If you were wondering what exactly Hole leader Courtney Love

uttered as her band left the stage Thursday (Sept. 10) at MTV's Video Music

Awards in L.A., the phrase was "Sat Nam," according to Hole publicist Gayle

Fine. The Buddhist incantation, which translates to "Truth is the

identity," was mumbled by Love after a brief "thank you" following Hole's

performance of the glammy title track from their recently released album,

Celebrity Skin. Love is currently filming the biopic of late

comedian Andy Kaufman, "Man in the Moon," which stars Jim Carrey in the

lead role and is being directed by Milos Forman, who also directed Love in

"The People Vs. Larry Flynt."
