Former Who guitarist Pete Townshend is mounting an American
mini-tour around his performance at the Aug. 15 "A Day in the Garden" festival in Bethel,
N.Y.
During the tour -- which will also include appearances on the "Late Night with David
Letterman" television show (Thursday) and at the Harborlights Pavilion in Boston
(Friday) -- the veteran rocker will play a Sunday benefit show at the House of Blues in
Chicago, for the local Maryville Academy, a residential facility for abused and
abandoned boys and girls.
In 1995, Townshend played a similar Maryville Academy benefit, during which he was
joined by Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder.
