Nova's Latino Electronica

Dominican Republic native Ramon Nova and his band OM will

issue their premier album, Namaste, on Aug. 11 on the San

Francisco-based Aztlan label. The CD will present Nova's blend of pop

electronica and drum and bass, augmented by lyrics that seamlessly flow

between Spanish and English. Although the 22-year-old artist lives in

the South Bronx, N.Y., he made the trek to the West Coast to collaborate with

Bay Area producer Mark Pistel, a charter member of the

techno-rock ensemble Consolidated. Pistel assisted Nova in his

trailblazing effort to combine Latin culture with electronica and drum

and bass.
