R 'N' R Three Dot: Tuatara Rarin' To Cut Follow-Up

The members of Tuatara--Peter Buck (R.E.M.),

Skerik (Critters Buggin'), Justin Harwood (Luna)

and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees)--are so excited

about their debut album, Breaking the Ethers and

recently-completed "Magnificent Seven" tour, which also

featured sets from the Minus Five and Mark Eitzel,

that they are hoping to record a second Tuatara album

later this year. The members have also discussed the

possibility of an other Magnificent Seven tour next summer...

Following in the footsteps of the platinum Romeo

and Juliet soundtrack and its sequel,

Hollywood Records is planning an August

release for the soundtrack sequelto the

Mira Sorvino/Lisa Kudrow movie Romy

and Michele's High School Reunion. Entitled

More Romy and Michele's High School Reunion,

and featuring songs "included in and associated

with" the movie, the soundtrack is scheduled to

contain songs by Wang Chung("Everybody

Have Fun Tonight"), No Doubt ("Just a Girl"),

La Bouche ("Be My Lover"), N' Trance

("Staying Alive"), Village People ("Y.M.C.A."),

Thomas Dolby ("She Blinded Me

with Science"),

Robert Palmer ("Addicted to Love"),

Devo ("Whip It"), Cyndi Lauper

("Time After Time"), The Pretenders ("Don't Get

Me Wrong"), Bananarama ("Cool Summer"),

Howard Jones ("No One Is To Blame"), and

Robert Palmer ("Bad Case of Lovin' You")...

Eyeball-wearing oddballs The Residents will

release a 36-track, 2-CD "greatest hits" compilation

on Sept. 9 called The Residents: Our Tired,

Our Poor, Our Huddled Masses. Celebrating 25 years

of avant garde music, film and interactive experiences,

the collection will include rarities, remixes, rare

singles and what the band calls "concentrated" versions

of their songs spanning the years 1972-96...

Chicago hip-hop hippie Mike Kandel, alias Tranquility

Bass, will release a new single, the trippy "We All Want

To Be Free," on June 17, with remixes by Ultramarine,

Tom Chasteen as well as two homegrown self-remixes...

Hagen will give a rare

performance at San Francisco's Minna Street Gallery

on Friday (June 20) at a benefit for the Shri Babji Charitable

and Research Hospital, a health-care facility that

serves the impoverished people of the Kumaon region

at the foothills of the Himalayas. Hagen will sing

a few songs and auction some collages she's created

for the event. DJ Reza will spin tunes following

the performance and auction...

The members of U2 will commandeer the

studios of Los Angeles' KROQ radio on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.

More than 100 stations throughout the United States will

carry the broadcast, during which the band will

take calls from listeners and play their favorite tunes.

A spokesperson for Island Records would not reveal

whether the Dublin DJs will be spinning

wax from their private collections or will

simply raid the KROQ library.
