Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are visibly smitten with each other, so it's no surprise that parallels were drawn between their love story and that of Fifty Shades Darker, the film based on the steamy hit novel that features a duet from Malik and Taylor Swift. What is surprising is that they made him crack up a little bit.

Malik stopped by “Morning Mash-Up” at Sirius XM, and the topic of "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" came up, as did whether or not there's any similarities between the sexcapades of Fifty Shades and his own love life. He hasn't seen the movie or read the books, apparently, but Stanley T was quick to point out that Malik has "lived the movie."

Cue hysterical laughter and Malik's blushing approval: "I like that!"

It turns out that his own relationship is a hell of a lot more boring than Christian and Anastasia's, though: Malik simply asked Hadid out and they hit it off shortly after they were introduced. "It was pretty straight-up," he recalled. "I was in New York. A gentleman never tells the full details, of course, but we spoke, we went on a date, and ..."

We all know what happened after that. He wrapped up the chat by revealing that he's "in the studio at the minute," and that new music is not too far off. Sounds like he's wrapping up 2016 well — he's just not tying it up Fifty Shades–style.
