Lady Gaga recently opened up about the downsides of fame in a CBS Sunday Morning interview, but now she’s back to remind us what got her into the music industry in the first place. In her own words: “It’s always been my dream to bring people together through music.”
So says Gaga in a new promo video for her upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. As we see footage from Gaga’s rowdy Dive Bar Tour, the Joanne singer talks about her intimate connection with Little Monsters and the power of fandom.
“What I really want is to bring people together that normally wouldn’t talk to each other or hang out or like each other or understand each other,” she said. “Fandom can do that. It’s that powerful.
“Fandom can inspire a young girl to become an artist, like me,” she continued. “It can give somebody the courage to speak up or come out. Even turn a room full of strangers into a family for three hours on a Sunday.”
Gaga concludes that she’s “absolutely honored” to be the Halftime Show headliner on February 5, 2017, and to celebrate the occasion, she’s announced a “Guest of Honor” contest alongside Pepsi and the NFL. The “most joyful, passionate Little Monsters” are being called upon to submit videos about their fandom for a chance to fly to Houston and witness Gaga’s Halftime Show in person.
