The Austin & Ally Squad Still Can’t Do It Without Each Other, 5 Years Later

As the show celebrates its fifth anniversary, its stars look back on Twitter

This year has been quite the anniversary milestone for Disney Channel. Besides the 100th DCOM (sorta) premiering over the summer and both High School Musical and Hannah Montana turning a decade old, it's hard to handle more anniversary news, right? Wrong.

Five years ago today (December 2), Austin & Ally premiered and gave us the new Fab Four: Austin Moon, Ally Dawson, Trish de la Rosa, and Dez. While the series ended at the start of this year, that didn't stop fans from reminiscing about the show's four seasons, using #5YearsOfAustinandAlly on Twitter. Star Lauren Marano, who played title character Ally, celebrated the anniversary (not to mention the Auslly ship) with sweet throwback photos.

She did regret not being able to share older pics: "I got my iPad right as we were shooting season 3, so I literally have no pics before that." However, she did post a classic promo pic of the show on Instagram, so she's forgiven.

Besides Marano, show creators Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert shouted out the series and retweeted lots of Austin & Ally content on the big day.

In fact, the celebrations sort of began a few days early, as some of the squad recently reunited to surprise Marano on her 21st birthday. Ross Lynch (Austin) and Calum Worthy (Dez) showed up to Radio Disney while Marano was working, bringing balloons and cake.

And just yesterday, Worthy surprised Marano again in honor of #24HoursOfReality. It's so great to see them back at it with shenanigans. Almost makes us forget the show is now five years old and we're getting ancient. Almost.
