It’s officially year-end ranking season, and to celebrate, MTV2 is bringing back a classic in the genre. MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game will see new life on MTV2 with a brand-new roundtable of panelists making their case for the 10 most important hip-hop artists of 2016.

Airing Friday, December 16 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, MTV2 Presents: Hottest MCs in the Game 2016 will be hosted by Charlamagne tha God. This year’s panelists include Nick Cannon and Joe Budden, as well as an expert assembly of music journalists and radio personalities.

The eight-person roundtable will narrow down 40 contenders to a list of the 10 hottest MCs of the year. Up for the honor this year are former No. 1 picks like Kanye West and Lil Wayne, as well as newcomers like Lil Yachty, Young M.A, and Lil Uzi Vert.

In addition to being up for consideration in the top 10, Yachty and M.A will stop by the studio to offer their own picks for the most exciting MCs of 2016.

The countdown begins Monday, December 12, when the 10th hottest MCs of 2016 will be revealed on MTV2’s website and social outlets. The list will be unveiled one artist at a time every day until Friday, when the panelists will debate the top six slots on-air and finally crown the No. 1 hottest MC of 2016.
