Any Gilmore Girls fan knows that between the three “girls” — Lorelei, Rory, and Emily — they may have plenty of differences between them, but they’d never, ever be caught wearing matching outfits. (Well, except for that whole mother/daughter charity fashion show favor Lorelei did for Emily and the DAR that one time.)
That changed at the premiere for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, though, as Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Kelly Bishop all stepped onto the gray carpet of the event looking stunning and chic in all-black ensembles.
We’re still a week out from the drop of the Gilmore Girls reboot, but the cast and crew marked the return of the beloved series in Los Angeles — and the black dresses were appropriate for a somber reason at the celebration, too.
Edward Herrmann, who played Richard Gilmore, passed away in 2014, and the Gilmores grieve his passing in the episode they screened at the premiere, “Winter.” It’s only fitting, then, that the subdued and chic looks sported by the Gilmores reflected that, and that Herrmann’s contributions to the cult classic and his absence were so affectionately treated in the continuation of the series.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hits Netflix on November 25, and the whole series is currently on the streaming service should you need a reason to binge-watch years of diner banter and small-town New England romance in the meantime.
