Justin Bieber Cries Onstage During Emotional ‘Purpose’ Performance

He keeps singing through the tears

A few tears aren’t going to stop Justin Bieber from singing his guts out. At his Purpose tour stop in Frankfurt, Germany, on Wednesday night (November 16), he choked up during his performance of “Purpose,” and the fan-made video below shows Beliebers cheering in support, motivating him to keep the show going despite the waterworks.

This isn’t the first time Bieber’s gotten teary-eyed in front of an audience. At the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, he suddenly broke down onstage after singing “What Do You Mean?” It was his comeback single ahead of Purpose’s release, so he was nervous about its reception.

“I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way that they did,” Bieber said at the time. “That’s what’s so special about the emotional moment at the end. It was authentic, it was real. I was really just wanting it so bad.”

It’s been just over one year since Purpose dropped, but it looks like the music still deeply moves Biebs.
