Ed Sheeran Becomes ‘Prince Charming’ For A Young Fan In The Hospital

See him sweetly serenade her with ‘Photograph’

Since announcing his social media hiatus almost a year ago, Ed Sheeran sightings have been few and far between. But on those rare instances he does reemerge, it’s entirely worth the wait.

Take, for instance, this story of Sheeran visiting a 9-year-old superfan named Melody in the hospital. Melody suffers from a rare neurological disorder called Rett syndrome, and her family wrote on Facebook that she’s spent 80 percent of her life in the hospital and has undergone more than 40 operations. Still, they call her “a living miracle,” and she recently got the surprise of a lifetime when Sheeran showed at her bedside to serenade her.

In a video posted to Facebook by Melody’s family, Sheeran sits with Melody and croons “Photograph” while strumming away on a pink ukulele. Her reaction is, of course, amazing.

After Sheeran’s visit, Melody’s mom wrote him a touching thank-you note, explaining the impact his music has had on her daughter’s life.

“So many times I nearly lost her because she was giving up, but as soon as we put [your music] on Melody would start fighting back,” she wrote. “This is what I mean when I say that I literally owe you her life. You literally keep her alive. She fights to stay in this crazy world just because of you … My Princess finally got her Prince Charming.”
