Willow Smith wants you to remember that there’s more to this world than pain.
On her new song “November 9th,” the young artist offers some words of comfort in the wake of last week’s election results.
“Baby girl, I know you’re tired / Don’t let the world put out your fire,” she sings over electric guitar chords. “Take my hand and you will see / Sadness and anger aren’t everything.”
Her delivery is unflinchingly gentle throughout the minute-and-a-half-long lullaby. We’ll probably be seeing a lot of rightfully enraged protest music in the weeks, months, and years to come, but small moments of calm like this one will be just as needed.
