In the days following the 2016 presidential election, safety pins have been popping up on clothing and social media accounts to let those who feel unsafe and threatened by the words of Trump and his supporters know that they are not alone.

The significance of the safety pin kicked off in the wake of Brexit, and now it’s starting to make waves stateside. It’s the mark of a growing group of allies, and it looks like the Rogue One team is eager to join their ranks.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Chris Weitz, one of the writers of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, posted an image of solidarity — the Rebel Alliance insignia marked with a safety pin — on Twitter.

Weitz had shared a more pointed tweet before this making parallels between Trump and the Empire of the Star Wars universe, calling it a “white supremacist organization,” which pissed off enough hard-typing keyboard critics that it eventually drove Weitz to delete the comment.

He kept the safety-pinned rebel logo, though, and good thing he did. It’s an inspirational, inclusive message, and it’s one that Luke Skywalker — a.k.a. Mark Hamill — readily endorsed with a retweet.
