This is a hard, confusing time to be a young girl in America, but at least the stars of December’s Teen Vogue are here to remind us that the future is bright. Rowan Blanchard, star of Girl Meets World, and Yara Shahidi, of Black-ish, are featured in the magazine’s December “Smart Girls Speak Up!” issue.
The friends discuss activism, representation, and their hopes for the future, all while wearing incredible statement earrings.
“Yara is proof that teenagers have so much more power than we are capable of digesting and that our voices actually do change things,” Rowan says. “I am thinking less about our impact on the world at large than I am about the ways we can impact each other and make one another feel less alone.”
“Watch out 2035,” Yara says of the presidential election. “I’ll officially be qualified!”
The issue, which also features an interview between Michelle Obama and Zendaya, is on newsstands November 15.
