"I still think that in [Hillary Clinton's] lifetime, she deserves to be the first female president and that's what makes me so sad," Cyrus said in a touching video posted on Facebook and Twitter. She first championed Bernie Sanders, then rallied for Clinton following her Democratic presidential nomination. On Tuesday morning, Cyrus proudly wore a Hillary shirt to the polls after months of campaigning at colleges, on TV, and on social media.
"I just wish she had that opportunity because she's fought for so long," Cyrus continued, "and because I believe her when she says she loves this country. This is all she's ever done. She's given her life to make it better."
Despite the loss, The Voice coach remains "hopeful" for the future: "We adjust and we accept everyone, who they are, and so Donald Trump, I accept you."
Then she kept the positivity going on Instagram. She shared a selfie of herself and her dog with a caption that further stresses the importance of acceptance moving forward. "Please treat people with love, with compassion, with respect, and I will do the same for you," Cyrus ended her video. "If you want to open your mind and open your heart, I would love to give you a key."
