The celebrity endorsements continue for the #MannequinChallenge. For those unfamiliar, this viral trend involves freezing in an action pose while Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" plays in the background. High-schoolers in Jacksonville, Florida, reportedly started it last month, when the first videos appeared on social media. Then more and more clips — over 100,000 on Instagram alone — rolled in, including one from the hip-hop duo themselves.
Now Adele's joining the fun. On Monday evening (November 7), she shared a sepia-toned video of her #MannequinChallenge, which looks straight out of HBO's new Westworld series. In the center of an Old Western saloon, she stands suspended in time while frozen patrons play the piano and throw chairs.
This clip comes just hours after Destiny's Child posted their own challenge. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams reunited for Rowland's son Titan's second birthday last weekend. They literally paused the celebrations to film their video, which is soundtracked by Lauryn Hill’s "Every Ghetto Every City" instead of Sremmurd.
If the #MannequinChallenge is the cause that can get Destiny's Child back together for new music, then let's please keep this viral sensation going.
