Solange’s Dream-Like Saturday Night Live Performance Was Perfect

‘Cranes in the Sky’ and ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’ make for a strong ‘SNL’ debut

The last Saturday Night Live before the election broke the fourth wall and saw Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin running off into the night for the cold open, so it's only fitting that Solange kept things otherworldly with a dreamy performance.

Starting with "Cranes in the Sky" off her remarkable A Seat at the Table, Solange took to the stage at Studio 8H dressed in a net of jewels and rocking a halo woven with the strands of her own hair — a sparkling R&B angel who makes short work of heavens-reaching high notes.

For "Don't Touch My Hair," Solange and the halo both came undone, as did the ethereal vibe of "Cranes in the Sky": Solange broke it down, dancing with her band (and Sampha!) and commanding the beat of the track with her powerful moves and stomps.

Solange was stoked following the performances, but we're preeeeetty sure there were way more perfect moments in her SNL showing than there were imperfect ones:
