Kanye And Kim Helped Alton Sterling’s Son Celebrate His 16th Birthday

See the sweet backstage snap

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West spent time with a very special guest at the rapper’s Saint Pablo show in L.A. this week: Cameron Sterling, the eldest son of Alton Sterling, who was fatally shot by Baton Rouge police officers in July.

Kim has been laying low since her robbery in Paris last month, but in a rare social media post, she and her husband are seen posing backstage with Cameron. Justin Bamberg, a lawyer for the Sterling family, shared the pic on Twitter, revealing that Cameron was celebrating his 16th birthday at the time.

Both Kim and Kanye previously spoke out about the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of Alton Sterling’s death. Kanye, for one, tweeted a link to footage of Sterling’s death, in which the 37-year-old father of five was shot by Baton Rouge police officers outside a convenience store. Kim, meanwhile, wrote an impassioned blog post titled “#BLACKLIVESMATTER” the day after Sterling’s death.

“I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter,” she wrote. “I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust — the people who ‘protect and serve’ — may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin.”
