Sit down, boys: Wonder Woman is here to show you how it's done. Warner Bros. and DC Films just dropped a kick-ass new trailer for Wonder Woman — a film 75 years in the making — complete with more action and a nod to Christopher Reeve's Superman.
Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as the titular DC Comics heroine, the film will be an origin story for Princess Diana of Themyscira. Diana made her scene-stealing debut in Batman V. Superman earlier this year, in which it was revealed that Wonder Woman's accomplishments span many, many decades. Wonder Woman explores that complicated history, starting with the warrior princess's mythological birthplace (where women rule above all) and featuring her efforts to stop "the war to end all wars." Basically, Wonder Woman is here to save us (and DC Films) from Angry Men.
The trailer also plays up the dynamite chemistry between Diana and Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine) and shows us Wonder Woman — and her Lasso of Truth, Bracelets of Submission, and Sword of Athena — in action. Watching Diana walk out onto a war zone is equal parts thrilling and stomach-churning, but nothing's more exciting than seeing her aerial kick a man in slow motion. Wonder Woman 1; Patriarchy 0.
Wonder Woman crashes into theaters June 2, 2017.
